Clear aligners use a series of removable, near-invisible trays to guide your teeth into position. Each aligner applies gentle, targeted pressure to create predictable movement. Our use of the ultra-convenient remote Dental Monitoring will guide you when you're ready for the next aligner, generally one to two weeks with each tray.

Because the aligner trays are clear, they blend in and slip on easily. Most people won’t notice you’re in orthodontic treatment. Dr. Lawrence uses fully digital planning to map the movement of every tooth before you begin.

01 · Consultation & Evaluation

We begin with a digital exam to confirm whether clear aligners are the right fit. Dr. Lawrence reviews your bite, goals, and projected treatment plan so you know exactly what to expect.

When you choose an orthodontist for your aligner care, you will benefit from additional years of specialized education and extensive training in jaw alignment, bite function, and TMJ health. Dr. Lawrence reviews your history and digital records and examines your smile, face, teeth, and bite.

Please note that not every situation is treatable with aligners, and the best way to find out what’s right for you is to consult with an orthodontist.

02 · Digital Scan

A quick, comfortable scan creates a detailed 3D model of your teeth. Dr. Lawrence uses this model to craft your tooth movements and preview your expected outcome.

03 · Custom Tray Delivery

Once your aligner trays are ready, we will place your first set, and any needed attachments, along with detailed instructions for wear. Each aligner builds on the previous one, moving your teeth step by step toward a more aesthetic, healthier, improved smile. The advanced remote monitoring software is also started at your delivery visit.

04 · Monitoring & Refinement

We check your progress with Dental Monitoring. You will be provided with a scan box that attaches to your phone, along with instructions to take pictures once a week using the Dental Monitoring App. This allows us to continually adapt your aligner progress to your individual tooth movement, giving the best results in the absolute shortest, individualized time.

If refinements are needed, the monitoring system detects them in real time, so your treatment can stay on track and proceed smoothly. This is a huge advantage for you because it's like us making a “house call” to check on you and your aligner progress!

Are clear aligners right for my smile?

Why should I see an orthodontist for aligner treatment?

Orthodontists complete dental school and then continue on to an intense 2 ½ - 3 year specialized residency that focuses on the proper alignment of teeth and jaws, a very scientific study of craniofacial growth, and the physiologic basis and, very importantly, anatomic limits to tooth movement.

This science governs all orthodontic treatment. This additional training is critical for achieving the best results, including periodontal (gum and bone) health. This knowledge and insight cannot be conveyed in a 1 day class sponsored by an aligner company to “certify” a dentist to sell their product. The end goal is to have proper, aesthetic alignment of teeth with healthy, stable bone to support these teeth. Straightening teeth with aligners involves much more than cosmetics.

Aligner treatment is a form of orthodontic care, and successful outcomes depend on detailed diagnosis and precise treatment planning. Moving teeth safely and effectively involves more than improving appearance — it requires careful attention to bite function, bone support, and long-term stability. Orthodontists’ specialized training is designed specifically to manage these complexities and deliver balanced, healthy results.

How long do I need to wear aligners each day?

Can clear aligners fix bite problems?

In many cases, yes. Clear aligners can correct a range of bite issues—especially when treatment is properly planned and monitored closely by an orthodontist. It is critical to have aligner treatment from an orthodontist because they are trained in what is anatomically possible and what violates biologic reality.

The computer programs can make nice pictures of straight teeth in anybody’s mouth. However, orthodontic education in the form of a full-time orthodontic residency provides the knowledge base to know if the movement and tooth placement can actually be done without long term harm and with proper stability.

Improved function and long-term bone health are an important part of the plan. Achieving a perfect smile involves much more than straightening teeth!

More complex skeletal concerns and certain bites require traditional braces to achieve proper results.

What if I lose or crack an aligner?

If an aligner tray goes missing or breaks, contact the office right away, or send a message through the DentalMonitoring App. Depending on where you are in the sequence, Dr. Lawrence may direct you to move ahead to the next tray, or we may replace the lost one to maintain proper timing.

If the next aligner will not properly fit, use your previous aligner to hold your progress until your replacement aligner arrives. Always keep your most recent set of aligners just in case this problem arises.

The advanced technology of DentalMonitoring means your progress is checked weekly WITHOUT visiting the office. This is a major advancement as patients are monitored more frequently at a time convenient to them.

In-person check-ins are brief and are scheduled for refinement scans or replacement of attachments. Throughout your treatment, Dr. Lawrence uses digital monitoring to keep your treatment on track, with no inconvenience to you, ensuring every stage of movement follows the treatment plan.
